How the Alt Text Checker works
The tool parses your markup locally and reads the alt attribute of every image element. Missing alt attributes are errors. An empty alt is correct — but only for purely decorative images, where it tells a screen reader to skip the image entirely. Anything over about 125 characters gets flagged because screen readers may cut it off and overlong alt text usually means you're writing a caption.
